WILLIAM E. RION AWARD
Any full-time union staff professional in Region 6 may be nominated for this award. This award is presented to in recognition for inspiring, dedicated and excellent staff leadership. William E. Rion stated “As staff we must provide excellence in what we do and should expect nothing less from our students.” This award honors his memory.
NORMAN A. WHITTEN AWARD
Any full-time student in good standing may be nominated as the candidate from his/her institution. This award is presented to a student who demonstrates exceptional leadership in their role at the student union. Norman A. Whitten stated “Give me the student who has realized the value of the extra-curricular experience as an education in itself.” This award honors his memory.
RICHARD STEELE JR. DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD
Any full-time union staff professional in Region 6 may be nominated for this award. This award is given in recognition of the exemplary service, outstanding contribution and dedication to Region 6 of ACUI. Richard Steele Jr. has served Region 6 as a member of the Regional Leadership Team, Regional Director and as ACUI President.
BRIGHT IDEA AWARD
Any full-time student in good standing may be nominated as the candidate from his/her institution. This award is presented to a student whose creativity and ingenuity has resulted in a “Bright Idea” that positively impacts the Union operations and/or programming. The selection committee is comprised of current Regional Leadership Team Members (Awards Chair, Host School Chair, Student Chair, and 2 additional RLT members).
RLT OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP AWARD
This award is presented to a member of the Regional Leadership Team that has shown exceptional dedication and outstanding leadership to the profession and to Region 6. The award recipient is selected by the Regional Director.
The Institute for Leadership Education and Development (I-LEAD®) is ACUI's premier student program, designed to emphasize the key concept areas of leadership, community development, and change. I-LEAD® offers an opportunity for the leaders of tomorrow to focus on personal growth and pertinent issues facing our world. The institute maximizes the potential of the student-staff partnership model by creating educational student-student and student-professional interactions.
